BILLY JOE MCINTIRE

April 16, 1928 — December 8, 2022

Billy Joe McIntire “Bop”
4/16/28-12/8/22
The Modern-Day Rhinestone Cowboy

The orneriest and goofiest man with a smile no one will ever forget entered eternal life on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the spry age of 94. Bill was not your average guy let alone 94yr old. Bill truly lived up to the age old saying, “age ain’t nothin but a number”. If anything, it only encouraged and motivated him to keep on going and be better than yesterday. If there was one thing Bill was, that was determined… no matter the obstacle, he gave it his all. So much so, he maintained PERFECT attendance all through grade school and high school for which he was extremely proud.

Bill was a native of Oklahoma which he always spoke so proudly of. Some of his best memories and life experiences were during his younger years in good ole Oklahoma. It was there he learned what it meant to be valued and to work hard. Once he joined the Navy, Bill became a true rolling stone who was fortunate enough to experience every corner of the world. Boy, did he have stories for days… some of which you probably heard 10x. If you met Bill, you most certainly would hear a story or 5 of his time in his most favorite place ever – San Diego, California.

The loss of this beautiful soul leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by him and more recently continually amazed at his ability to overcome every health hurdle thrown his way. Bill, also commonly known as Billy, Bop, Mac, Boppy, and Billy Joe was a fighter. Most would probably not think the last few months of life in your mid 90s would be some of your best, but for Bill – IT WAS! He found such joy in wearing hilarious t-shirts every single day with racy phrases to make everyone smile and laugh. He loved getting a rise out of everyone when they saw his shirt for the day!

Bill is now dancing, enjoying rum & coke, feeling no pain, and reunited with the love of his life Helen McIntire; his son Billy Richard Jr.; grandson Kenneth Burroughs Jr., his parents, and brother. Now that’s what we call a party!

His spirit is carried on by his daughter Rita (Ken) Burroughs; grandchildren, Janine Chmielewski and Whitney Taylor; great-grand-children Charles Leftridge IV and Porter Crenshaw.

Bill’s celebration of life will be held December 22nd from 1-4pm at Storypoint - 122 Medina Rd. Medina, OH 44256. The family will be wearing some of his best shirts and encourages all to wear something funny in his honor – nothing is off limits. But, whatever you do, don’t be late because Bill would be livid – literally pissed. Plus, there will be an auction for his 23 cans of Comet cleaner and excessive collection of batteries and flashlights. Not really, but ya smiled.
