Bridget "Bridie" Teresa (O'Hara) Nolan, age 80, of Brunswick, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021. She was born on December 3, 1941, in County Sligo, Ireland to Peter and Anne (nee Walsh) O'Hara.
She was a loving mother and a vibrant, sharp-witted, and charismatic woman who always had time for a laugh. Bridget was an avid reader and was a U.S. citizen but also referred to herself as a "citizen of the universe". She attended convent school in Ireland and served time in a local Irish law firm as she always dreamed of becoming a lawyer. She came to America at a young age and worked for the Chicago Policeman's Annuity and Pension Board and then spent time with the Crime Commission. Having an insatiable appetite for knowledge and a keen interest in justice and equality for all. She was a breast cancer survivor and helped so many people to look to the future with hope. Bridie was a force to be reckoned with.
Bridget is survived by her son Edward (Michele, nee Beverick) Nolan; siblings, Annie (Jim, dec.) Hickey, Patrick O'Hara, Eithne (Barney) Farrelly, Rose (Martin, dec.) Coyne, Margaret (Conrad) Fernandez; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Bridie was preceded in death by her siblings, John (Patricia) O'Hara, Kathleen O'Hara, Sophia Flannery, Peter O'Hara, and Elizabeth O'Hara.
Cremation has taken place so she may remain by her son's side as she always wished. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life service will be performed in the future when it is safe for all to gather. The Nolan family has entrusted Bridget's arrangements to Carlson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Brunswick.
