ADELINE M. (DVORAK) SPENCER

April 17, 1908 — May 11, 2012

Adeline M. (Dvorak) Spencer, 104 of Windham, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2012 after a wonderful life devoted to her family, church and community. She was born April 17, 1908 in Cleveland, Ohio to Anton and Julia (Havorak) Dvorak.

She graduated from Ravenna Twp. School in 1926. Adeline married Bert D. Spencer on June 22, 1932 and they moved to Windham in 1935. She was a homemaker and enjoyed baking lots of cookies, cakes and pies for her family and her children’s friends. She was the baker in the cafeteria at Windham Schools for 16 years, retiring in 1967 and was a member of the Windham United Methodist Church. She has the distinction of being crowned the oldest queen of the Portage County Fair last year.

Adeline had lived with her daughter until becoming a resident of the Woodlands of Robinson where she lived until her death.

She is survived by her daughter, Louise Spencer Sands of Windham, daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Spencer of Texas, grandchildren, Richard (Edita) Sands of Windham, David (Teresa) Sands of Roanoke, VA, Robin (Dale) Green of TX, and Bert (Hap) Spencer of TX; great-grandchildren Richard N. Sands of KY, James A.T. Sands of TX, Nicole (Josh Sweet) Spencer of Windham, Tim (Houng) Green of TX Crystal (Cesar) Herrera of TX, Jason (Allyson)Spencer of TX and great-great-granddaughters, MaKenzie Spencer and Taylor Green of TX, many, many nieces and nephews and lots of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert D. Spencer, parents, step-father Steven Sewald, son, Bert M. Spencer, grandson, William J. Spencer, son-in-law, Richard Sands, brother George Sewald and sister Stella Dallow.

Thanks to all at the Woodlands for all the love and good care they gave our mom, grandmom and great-grandmom, as well as Dr. James Peng and the Staff at Robinson Memorial Hospital.

The family will have private viewing and services. A Celebration of Life Service will be held to honor Adeline on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 6 P.M. at the Windham United Methodist Church with Rev. Lisa Kropinak and Rev. Rick Hughes officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Windham United Methodist Church, 9051 N. Main St., Windham, OH 44288 or the Windham Fire Dept. 9621 E. Center St., Windham, OH 44288.

Arrangements were entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.
