Alberto M. Szastak, age 78, of Brunswick, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Medina Hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson’s.
Albert was born on July 19, 1941 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to the late Frank and Bernice (nee Sobieraj) Szastak. Albert came to the United States when he was 18. Shortly after he met his bride, Wanda and started his career at St. Regis (Georgia Pacific). They married and raised their two children in Brunswick, Ohio.
Albert’s presence was felt by everyone. He was a devoted and generous Husband, Father, Grandfather “Dziadzia” and Christian. He always did for others. He loved watching and hearing about his grandchildren’s accomplishments, whether they were on the field or in the classroom. Second to his family, Albert loved his Cleveland sports teams and never missed a game.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who provided loving care and support to Albert and his family during his illness.
Albert is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Wanda Szastak (nee Idziak); his children Jeff (Heather) Szastak of Jackson Township, Michelle Szastak of Boston, Massachusetts; his brother Carl (Karen) Szastak; grandchildren Wyatt, Oliver, & Stella Szastak. He is predeceased by his parents Frank & Bernice Szastak and nephews Brian & Greg Szastak.
Memorial donations may be made in Albert's name to The Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging or The Parkinson’s Foundation Great Lakes.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, December 19, 2019, from 4-7 pm at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, Brunswick (1/2 mile south of Route 303). On Friday, December 20, 2019 the family will receive friends for visitation from 9-10 am at St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10 AM. Fr. Bob Stec, will officiate. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brookpark.
