Alexander Kenneth "Ken" Norris, 77, of Garrettsville, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, August 3, 2019, with his loving family at his side after a short battle with cancer. He was born on March 16, 1942, in Salisbury Pennsylvania to Warren and Pauline (Housel) Norris.
He attended Salisbury Elk Lick High School where he was part of the graduating class of 1960. Ken was very fortunate to keep in close contact with his classmates throughout the years, recently celebrating their 60th high school reunion this past spring. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Army proudly serving in Germany for two years. Following his time in the Military, he worked to support his family and retiring from Filmco in 2008 after 40 years. Kens passions in life include taking care of his dog Max and spending time with all his grandchildren. He loved to meet up with his son Kenny at DQ, where they would drink coffee and watch the news. He also enjoyed many other hobbies that kept him busy in his spare time.
Ken will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Sara (Smith) Norris; children, Rick Norris, Steven Norris, Kenny (Mariann) Norris, Stacy (Mike) Colbert and Lori (Rob) Maur; grandchildren, Steven (Danielle), Suzanne, Scott (Majetta), Shannon, Joshua, Erin (Mike Whitehair), Alex, Racheal (Scott Stanley Jr.), Micheal, Joey, Alicia, Tyler, Ashley (John Eisenbarth), Cassidie (Jackson Neer) and Courtney; great grandchildren, Melody, Charly, JR, Justin, Zoey, Gavin and Kylie; great-great grandchild, Everly.
He was preceded in death by his father Warren Albert Norris who was killed in combat on Anzio Beach during the D-Day invasion, his mother Pauline and his daughter-in-law Theresa Norris.
Friends are welcome for visitation on Wednesday August 7, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Thursday August 8 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. A Funeral Service for Ken will be held following visitation on Thursday at 1:30 PM with Pastor David Gray officiating. Burial will follow with full Military Honors at Park Cemetery, Garrettsville.
Our family would like to thank all of the Doctors and Nurses at UH Portage Medical Center who worked tirelessly to keep Ken comfortable in his final days.
