Alfred J. Lancki, age 95, a resident of Western Reserve Masonic Community of Medina, passed away on September 25, 2014. He was born on March 31, 1919 in Chauncey, West Virginia to Leonard and Michaelina (nee Dzikowski) Lancki.
Alfred served in the United States Army during WW II and reenlisted in the US Air Force in 1946. Al earned 2 Bronze Stars. He was an experimental model maker for NASA, contributing to the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. He will be remembered as a man of faith, a dedicated husband; hard working, persistent, loved gardening, animals, fixing cars, candy and getting a good deal when he could. He enjoyed playing the harmonica to entertain at the nursing home.
He will be missed by his wife of 57 years, Ruth (nee Murphy ), children; Lenny (Ann Marie), Karen (Damian) Blazek, Carol (Greg) Palichleb, Linda (Rob) Lazzaro, grandchildren; Christina (Hector) Aponte, Andrew (Leah) Blazek, Teresa ( Bryan) Smith, Matthew (Michelle) Blazek, Thomas Blazek, Walter, Michael and Michelina Palichleb, Noah and Maya Lazzaro and great-granddaughters; Maya, Nadia, and Addison Aponte, Ava, and Ella Smith, and Macey Blazek.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sr. Mother Agnes, brothers; Edmund Lancki and Henry Wojciechowski.
Friends may join the family for Visitation on Monday, September 29, 2014 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, (corner of River Styx and Rt. 18) Medina, OH 44256. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Church 606 E. Washington St. Medina, Ohio at 10 AM. Entombment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery Cleveland.
