Amos M. Campbell, Jr., aka Famous Amos and Jupie, 82 of Brunswick passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Southwest Urgicare Center in Brunswick. He was born November 18, 1927 in Greenville, Pennsylvania to Amos M. and Elizabeth (nee Armagost) Campbell.
As a teenager he worked for Islay’s Dairy Company where he eventually went on to become manager. He owned and operated Campbell’s Cleaners in Columbiana and then opened a Confectionaire Stand “Karmel Korn” in Parmatown, Randall Park Mall, Tower City, and Processing Center at 130th and Sprague Road. He went all over the country doing old fashioned Jupie taffy pulls. Mr. Campbell was a member of Brunswick Rotary, past member of Columbiana Kiwanis, and past member of many other organizations.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife Florence (nee Simpson) Campbell; children Michael (Rhonda) Campbell, Phillip (Pamela Venus) Campbell, Jeffrey (Lynn Ann) Campbell, Elizabeth “Becky” (Bill) Steele, and Ella Jane Campbell; siblings Wayne (Donna) Campbell, JoAnn Garing, Fred (Marjorie) Campbell, and Roberta Vensel; 14 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Freda of 53 years; parents; brother Frank Campbell; sisters Margaret (George) Rankin and Jane (Miles) Rogers; and brothers-in-law Lou Garing and Dick Vensel.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick and one hour prior to service time at Church. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at First Christian Church in Columbiana. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in Firestone Park Cemetery.
