ARTHUR JAMES BUEHLER

Arthur "Art" James Buehler, age 95, of Grafton, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, in Olmsted Twp. after a brief illness.
Arthur is survived by his children, Larry Allen, Cheryl Lynn Switalski, Brenda Joanne Rourke (William), and Robert Edwin (Patricia), whom he shared with his former spouse, Betty (nee Moats); 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Sophie (nee Frautchy); daughter, Deborah Lee Dressler; granddaughter, Joy Marie Dressler; brothers, Oscar, Edward and Albert; and sisters, Bertha Rowe, Helena Wright, Alma Miracle and Wilma Buehler.
Arthur was born in Conneaut, Ohio, on December 31, 1926. A lifelong resident of Ohio, he graduated from Leroy High School. He grew up in a large family on a dairy farm, and had dreams of playing professional baseball. As an adult, the family fondly referred to him as "Big Artie." He became a draftsman, and made a career in drafting and civil engineering. Arthur loved gardening and nature, creating many herbal teas from plants he found in the woods. Music was an important part of his life, and for many years played the accordion in a local polka band. He traveled to Switzerland to explore his father's birthplace and visit relatives. He also loved to frequent the many fairs and festivals throughout Ohio, especially enjoyed the live bands, and would seize every opportunity to dance.
The last ten years of Arthur's life were spent residing at the Renaissance Retirement Campus in Olmsted Twp., where he enjoyed social gatherings, activities, and field trips. He was also known to assist the building maintenance department, at their invitation, to trouble shoot and problem solve. Curious by nature, he took great pleasure in reading about, and discussing, a broad range of topics. Always a lover of music, a favorite pastime was watching and singing along to The Sound of Music.
A private family viewing on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 10:00 am, will be at Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile south of state route 303), Brunswick, Ohio, followed by a brief graveside service. Interment will be at Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
