Arthur Ellison, 84, a lifelong resident of the Garrettsville-Nelson Township area, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. He was born January 20, 1930 in Sutton, WV to Guy and Nettie Ellison.
Art served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a truck driver for Republic and LTV Steel. He had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as his Savior. Art was an avid musician known as the “Banjo Man.” He enjoyed hunting, fishing, walking, and spending time with his cherished family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Brenda Jackson of Kent, Steven (Karen) Ellison of Mantua and Cathy Ellison of Ravenna; brother, Burnell; sister, Betty Lue, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Catherine Ellison and numerous loving nephews and nieces.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 60 years, Betty Gean; son, Rick; brothers, Homer and Junior Ray; and sisters, Juanita, Garnett, Gay, Mary Sue and Mae.
Calling hours are 6-8 PM on Friday, October 31, 2014 and Saturday, 1-2 PM at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. Funeral services will begin at 2 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Harrington Cemetery, Nelson Township, with military honors.
