Barbara Ann Dryer, 86, of Wadsworth, passed away peacefully on March 10th, 2020.
Barbara was born on October 13, 1933, in Superior, Wisconsin. She was married to Captain Raymond Dryer for over 30 years until his passing in October 1991. Barbara owned several antique and craft stores over the years, including co-owning Creations of the Past in Medina. She was a real estate agent as well as a devoted volunteer to various Catholic organizations. Barbara loved crafting, antiques and sewing, but most of all she loved being a mother and a grandmother to her 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her children, Steven (Lisa) of Medina, Kathryn Imhoff of Wadsworth, Edwin (Susan) of Wadsworth and Thomas (Lisa) of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Jaclyn, Joshua, Allyson, Cheyenne, Kirsten, Julianne, Evan, Cody, Collin, Carson, Gabrielle, Nevada and Wyatt.
Barbara was born in Superior, Wisconsin on Friday, October 13, 1933, which would explain why she liked scary movies and stories. Raised by her grandmother after the loss of her mom when she was only 5 years old. Graduated from Cathedral High School. Out of high school she worked at the Mesabi Building in Duluth, Minnesota as a switchboard operator where she met her future husband. Barbara and Ray had 4 children and were happily married over 30 years.
While raising her children she was very active as a volunteer for various Catholic organizations some of which were the Legion of Mary and Catholic Charities.
As well as a volunteer she also worked for several years as a real estate broker.
Outside of volunteering she was very passionate about her hobbies in making crafts, buying/selling antiques and sewing. To compliment those hobbies, she opened several antique/hobby stores which Ray was usually one of her top employees.
She was a devoted mother that encouraged her children to practice their Catholic faith by attending Catholic school, serving as alter boys, praying daily and using good Christian judgement in life.
Barb and Ray always had a warm and inviting home for the kids growing up even after the kids moved out the first time and came back.
She adored and loved spending time with all her 13 grandchildren. She made sure they all felt her love equally. Even in her later years she would spend considerable time making Easter baskets and Christmas bags for each of the Grandkids.
Barbara was born on the 13th, her husband passed away on the 13th, so she would feel it is only appropriate that she is laid to rest today , the 13th.
Barbara will be sincerely missed by her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
