Bruce W. Funai, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully October 21, 2017 at the age of 66. He was born April 17, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio to Walter and Bernice (nee Sicz) Funai.
Bruce proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 - 1972. He retired after 41 years as a system manager at Diebold Inc. Bruce enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and taking walks around Chippewa Lake.
He will be dearly missed by his mother, Bernice; daughters, Heidi Funai of San Francisco, CA, Tina Funai of St. Petersburg, FL; son, Curtis (Laura) Funai of Greenville, SC; granddaughter, Lexandra; siblings, James (Grace); Bernice (David) Leuschel, Donna Robison, Kathleen (Fred) Esposito; sister-in-law, Serena Funai; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Linda; his father, Walter; brother, Kenneth; and nephew, Freddie.
Friends may join the family for visitation Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 4 to 8 pm at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick, OH 44212. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00 am also at the funeral home. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am prior to service time. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Brunswick.
The family wants to acknowledge the wonderful services of the VA at Wade Park. The caring staff of the Heroes Harbor Hospice created an incredibly supportive and comfortable environment for his final battle.
