CAROL J. MALLORY

January 19, 1950 — November 26, 2016

Carol J. Mallory, 66, of Garrettsville, passed away on November 26, 2016 after a brief period of hospitalization. Born on January 19, 1950 in Port Huron, MI, the second child Jim and Florence Mallory, she grew up and spent the majority of her life in Pontiac, MI.

After graduation from Pontiac Central High, where she excelled at English and music, she enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Medic at Valley Forge Medical Center in PA and at Walter Reed Army Hospital in MD. She married Mike Peter who served with her in the army, though the marriage ended in divorce. Much of Carol's post-military life was spent within the medical field, including work as a medical courier. Her inherent talent with words and language led her to the field of professional business writing, which she did for many years under the name Professional Writing Services. Clients included such businesses as the newly-formed Ameritech. A voracious reader, Carol's wide range of interests also included animal welfare, having worked as a veterinary technician and as a trainer of Schutzhund-titled German Shepherds. She will be most remembered, however, for her indomitable wit and humor and her innate gift for friendship.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Shannon Mallory (Shawn Cisney), grandson Jim Mallory who is currently serving in the U.S. Navy and granddaughter Kate Cisney of Garrettsville; her sister Patricia (Henry) Russell of Pontiac, MI along with niece Michelle (Mark) Dodge and Nephew Steven (Laura) Cruz; her brother, Mike (Helen) Mallory and nephew Brendan of Glendale, CA; her aunt Ethel Miller of Ft. Gratiot, MI; adoptive daughter Patricia Foxall of Garfield Heights, OH; ex-husband Mike (Beverly) Peter of IHB, FL, with whom she maintained a good relationship; and Charlie Jones, her devoted feline companion of many years.

Interment will be held at a future date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly MI. Carol may have left us too soon, but she made all our lives better while she was here.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio.
