CAROL J. OLIN

Carol J. Olin (nee Brokaw), 92, a lifelong resident of Garrettsville, OH, quietly left this life to join her soul mate, Donn Olin, on Friday, January 17, 2025. She was born on October 27, 1932 in Butler, PA, to the late Harold and Alma (nee Hill) Brokaw.  

She grew up in Garrettsville and fell in love with Donn while they were both in high school at Garrettsville High School. After graduation, Carol attended the St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Cleveland OH, became an R.N., and married Donn in 1952. She worked at West Geauga Hospital and volunteered with the Portage County Health Dept., as well as other organizations. Carol was a member of the Garrettsville United Methodist church, singing Alto in the choir for many years. She also served on many committees in the life of the church. In addition, Carol was a member of the Jr. Women’s club and Mother Singers. She enjoyed playing Bridge, traveling, and gardening, and her family was her greatest joy. 

Carol will be deeply missed by her children, Kim (Bob) MacDonald, Dann (Barb) Olin, and Suzy (Dave) Lamb; grandchildren, Dan (Alexis) MacDonald, Alison MacDonald, Abby (Nathan) Hazi, Maggie (Jon) Tully, Mandy (Taylor) Hoover, Conor (Julia) Lamb, Owen (Ashley) Lamb, Kyle (Rebecca) Lamb; great grandchildren, Mikayla and Aiden MacDonald, Natalie, Eliza and Mia Hazi, Evelyn Tully, Arlo and Oliver Hoover; sister, Joan Hake; brother, David Brokaw, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donn Olin; sisters, Dorothy Jakab, Lana Brokaw, and her great granddaughter, Lennyn Shea MacDonald.  

Please join the family for a memorial visitation Friday, January 31, 2025, 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., at the Garrettsville United Methodist Church, 8223 Park Ave, Garrettsville, OH 44231. A memorial service will begin at the church at 11:30 a.m.  

Donations would be graciously accepted by the Garrettsville United Methodist Church, 8223 Park Ave, Garrettsville, OH 44231, in Carol’s name, to honor her memory and the love of her church.
