CHARLES "LINDY" PENNELL

May 7, 1928 — December 12, 2014

Charles “Lindy” Pennell, 86, of Shalersville, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Akron City Hospital. He was born May 7, 1928 in Shalersville, Ohio to Harold and Hazel (Veon) Pennell.

Charles was a carpenter and a member of the United Brothers of Carpenters Union #1499 and also the Mantua Masonic Lodge #0533. He enjoyed deer hunting, gold mining, and scuba diving. He also enjoyed flying and was a member of the Cleveland Parachute Club. Since he was a pilot, he was able to fly for the club.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret (Long) whom he married Aug. 29, 1970; step-son, Robert (Brenda) Kropp of Peninsula; step-daughters, Pamela Cossu of Palm Beach, FL, and Karen (Jeff) Miller of Garrettsville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Douglas, Jack, Harold and Bill Pennell; and sister, Betty Horner.

A celebration of Charles’ life will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2014 from 2 -5 PM at the Freedom Town Hall. Please join us to share your memories and stories as we pay tribute to our husband, step-father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In lieu of flowers, contributions will be accepted for the Garrettsville/Nelson Food Cupboard and Garrettsville Strong.
