Charles J. “Muskie Chuck” Prasek, 79, of Medina, OH, passed away unexpectedly in California while traveling with his wife, Linda. He was born November 19, 1944, in Cleveland, OH, to the late Charles and Antoinette Prasek.
Charles graduated from Maple Heights High School class of 1962. During his time in high school, he was awarded many ribbons for pole vaulting and high jumping. Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from October 30, 1963 - October 30, 1969. After he returned home from the Navy, Charles continued his education, graduating from Cooper School of Art in 1976. Charles worked at NL Corporation as a lighting designer for several years. He retired from the Cleveland Plain Dealer in 2002 after 17 years of service as a design illustrator-finish artist. After Charles’s retirement he went on to teach art at Virginia Martin College of Art & Design and Polaris High School, where he was recognized by the Ohio Association of Career Colleges & Schools as a Master Teacher in 2003.
Charles was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Ohio Huskie Muskie Association. He enjoyed going on an annual fishing trip to Canada with friends and family. He was a gifted painter. Charles’ other passions included making lures, collecting antique lures, antiquing with wife, Linda, traveling, weather watching, avid reader of history, and attending Holy Martyrs Catholic Church. Charles was a big Cleveland Browns fan and former season ticket holder.
The best way to describe him is he was “Simply the Best.” Charles loved people and would talk to anyone; he never went anywhere without meeting someone and getting to know them. His motto was "leave them laughing" & he always did.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death and has rejoined his beloved dog, Rocky.
