Clements “Clem” “Dutch” Belter, age 84, of Brunswick, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Cleveland on June 7, 1935 to Clements and Sybilla (nee Glansbeck) Belter. Clem was married to the love of his life, Caroline (nee Piotrowski) Belter, for 62 years.
Clem and his wife, Carole, were one of the first families founding St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, Brunswick. He was Medina County’s first deacon and served for over 40 years.
Clem was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of and Chaplin for the American Legion Post 234, Knights of Columbus #4847, and Legion of Mary.
He was an active member of the community, served as a Eucharistic minister, and was involved in the local food bank and the St. Ambrose Catholic Works of Mercy.
He retired as a Journeyman Electrician from IBEW Local 38. He enjoyed gardening, baseball, crossword puzzles, golf, motorcycling, and most of all spending time with his loving family.
Clem is survived by his beloved wife, Carole; children, Annie (Rich) Mate, Barb (Dan) Fitzgerald, Andrew, Charlie and Paul; six brothers and sisters; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 13, 2019, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Clem on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Ambrose Catholic Parish. The family will receive friends at Church one-hour prior at 9:30 – 10:45 am. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Valley City, Ohio.
