CRAIG J BAILEY

Craig J. Bailey, loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and treasured friend, age 63 of Sharon Twp, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016. The true Grill Master and family man is now at peace. He was born on November 20, 1952 to William and Wilma (nee Bramlett) Bailey.

Craig was a graduate of Copley High School, then went on to the University of Akron for his Bachelor and Masters degrees in Education. He began his teaching career in Barberton City Schools where he coached basketball with Jack Greynolds. He then became an administrator in Green Local Schools and went on to teach and coach at Coventry Local Schools where he was the high school principal. Craig continued his career as Highland Middle School principal moving on to the central office as Curriculum Director. He retired from Buckeye Local Schools as Superintendent.

Craig enjoyed playing golf, traveling with his family, and was an avid sports fan. He remained active as a volunteer at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sharon Center and was also a leader and promoter of The Highland Schools Foundation.

He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Lee Ann, daughters; Katie (Greg) Pickard, Joanna (Jake) Legere, son Gavin (Jenn) Pinto, his very special grandchildren; Reese, Tyler and Aidan, also his brother; Brian Bailey and sister Jill (David) Holmes and brother-in-law Dr. Charles (Meredith) Riedel, mother-in-law Anna Riedel, as well as nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bill Bailey and father-in-law Calmer J. Riedel.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 1 to 3 PM and 5 to 8 PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, Ohio 44256. Visitation will also be held Friday, January 8, 2016 from 9 to 10 AM at Grace Lutheran Church 146 High St. Wadsworth, Ohio 44282 where Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM with Rev. Judy McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wadsworth.
