Craig Swartwood, age 79, of Medina, passed away on July 20, 2022. He was born on November 15 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio to Allen and Irene (Chaney) Swartwood. Craig married the love of his life Karen Ann Broa in 1962. Together, Craig and Karen built a life and a family starting out in Parma, Ohio then eventually settling in Brunswick, Ohio. Craig worked most of his life at Rex Pipe and Supply Company in Cleveland, Ohio, working his way up over the years from the warehouse, to sales manager, to branch manager. Craig and Karen adopted two daughters; their first, Staycie in 1967 and their second, Wendy in 1970. Over the years, when talking about adoption, Craig would often say it was the best decision he ever made. Craig was a life long fan of the game of baseball, the Cleveland Indians specifically, but loved all things baseball in general. He loved playing on softball, bowling, and golf leagues over the years. He coached his girls on the Yellow team and umpired for the Brunswick Youth Sports in the 1970's and 1980's Craig was a die hard Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed fishing and spending time in nature. In his retirement he split his time between his home in Medina, and his cabin in Pennsylvania. He continued to golf and worked part time at Ironwood Golf Course in Hinckley, Ohio,
Craig is survived by his daughters: Staycie Barrett, Wendy (Tom) Eastwood, and, his five grandchildren: Hannah Eastwood, Cortney Barrett, Emma (Alden)Robinson, Abel (Isabella) Eastwood, Sophia (Elwopp) Hall, and his two great grandsons Ansel and Everett Eastwood.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, John and Sophie Chaney, his parents, Allen and Irene, his sister Karen Oney, and the love of his life, Karen.
A small private service will be held at Craig's cabin, in Brookston, Pennsylvania, in the heart of the Allegheny National Forest, his favorite place on earth. This little spot in the forest held all of his best childhood memories as well as his fondest memories with his family and friends over all the years of his life.
Arrangements for Craig were entrusted to Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Rd, Medina, Ohio 44256.
