David Keith Richards, age 71, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024. He was born on October 23, 1952, to the late Joseph and Pauline (Ireland) Richards. On March 31, 1978, he married Mary Beth Braeunig in Sandusky, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Jason Richards and daughter Melissa Richards.
He will be missed by his loving wife, Mary Beth; Children, Laura Richards, Kristin McMillan, Jen (Adam) Philpott; Grandchildren, Lia, Jayson, Jonas, Dallin, Aubrey, Mae, Jacob, Andrew, Abbie, and Benjamin; Siblings, Cheryl (Mike) Godfrey, Jeff (Lucy) Richards, and his twin sister Diane (Jim) Sanders; Many nieces, nephews, and friends; and granddog Finn.
David graduated from Bellevue High School in 1971 and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at BGSU. He retired from Medina City Schools in 2010 as a middle school guidance counselor and athletic coach of football, basketball, and track. After retirement, he found great joy as a track official, serving others through his business Nothing Major, and sharing stories of his great finds through scrapping around Medina. David was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as Bishop and in other leadership roles. He was a supportive husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
The family of David Richards will receive friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the Carlson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Rd, Medina, Ohio, 44256, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. There will be a service on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 4411 Windfall Road in Medina at 11:00 A.M. Following the service he will be laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery.
