DAWN MARIE HAZLETT

September 11, 1937 — September 24, 2021

Dawn Marie Hazlett, 84, of Medina Ohio, previously of Warren, Ohio passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 due to complications from Alzheimer's. She was born September 11, 1937 in Sharon, PA to the late Leonard and Mary (McCormley) Roux. Dawn graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology with a Bachelors degree in Teaching. She taught Home Economics for 32 years until she retired and moved to Southport, NC with her husband, Henry Hazlett.

In her early years Dawn was President of her local Mother's of Twins Organization, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and participated in many school activities for her twin daughters. During her retirement years, Dawn enjoyed golfing, doing crafts/sewing and volunteering for a battered women's shelter. Dawn's creativity was apparent in the beautiful wreaths and Christmas ornaments she made, the home decorations she sewed and the clothes she designed for her daughters and granddaughter. For special celebrations and daily life, Dawn's family always knew she would take care of every little detail.

Dawn will be joined by her loving husband Henry who passed away on September 28, 2021. Dawn and Henry would have been blessed to be married 60 years this November. They enjoyed traveling in their RV, boating and their retirement years at the beach. She will also be deeply missed by her loving children, Jill Himes (husband Tom), Joy Makin (husband Selden) of Medina; grandchildren Yuri Himes and Madison Makin; sister Lynn Lantz (husband Robert) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Roux and mother, Mary Roux; sister, Joyce Paschke and brother-in-law Donald Paschke.

Due to the passing of both parents, the daughters have chosen to hold an intimate, private service for Dawn and her husband Henry at this time. They will be laid to rest together at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association at alz.org in Dawn's memory. Care for Dawn was entrusted to Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services - Medina, Ohio.
