Don Carley, Jr., 73, veteran of the Vietnam War and longtime resident of Garrettsville, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. He was born April 2, 1949, in Providence, RI, to the late Don Carley, Sr. and Charlotte Dickerson (nee Stump).
He was raised in Bainbridge, and he always had fond memories of Lake Lucerne. Don then enlisted in the U.S. Army. After serving in the war, he returned home and married Sarah Jane Tekus on February 2, 1980; together they built a life in Garrettsville.
Don will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Sarah, with whom he was blessed to share 43 years of marriage; daughters, Robyn (Matt) Andrew and Erika (Wei) Ma; grandchildren, Nathan Spatny, Matthew Spatny, Lillian Ma, Adelynn Ma, Jaycie Ma, Jettson Ma, and Carly Andrew; siblings, Arthur Ward Carley, III, Alan (Janie) Carley, and Patricia Ann (Ed) Luzniak, as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Please join the family to honor Don’s life and military service, on Monday, March 20, 2023, where we will meet at 1:30 P.M. am at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Rd., (Corner of River Styx Rd. & Rt. 18) to process to Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery for a graveside service at 2:15 P.M. with full military honors.
