Donald Dennis Harvey passed away on January 30, 2015, at Robinson Memorial Hospital. He was born in Conneaut, Ohio, to Clyde and Evondah (Bacon) Dennis on October 8, 1925. He graduated from Pierpont High School and went to work for ODOT in Ashtabula. He was transferred to Ravenna as construction engineer for Division 4 in 1960, and several years later became Location and Design Engineer for Division 4. He was also a self-employed surveyor.
He was a member of Garrettsville United Methodist Church and sang in the Chancel Choir for many years. He was also a member of the Hiram Men’s Chorus.
Don was on the Garrettsville Village Council for twelve years and a member of the village Planning Commission for twenty-eight years.
Don was awarded the President Garfield Humanitarian award by the Garrettsville Masonic Lodge in 2008.
Don is survived by his wife Betty (Mausling) to whom he was married faithfully for 62 years. He is also survived by his daughters, Kathy (Bob) Lunceford; Linda Prusha; Amy (Craig) Alderman; Becky (Bill) MacWhade. Grandchildren include: Samantha and Maggie Lunceford; Emma and Connor Prusha; Trent, Wes (Leah), and Claire Alderman; Hayley and Taylor MacWhade. Also great-granddaughter Oliviana Alderman. Brother-in-law Ralph (Carol) Mausling. Sister, Patricia (Matt) Koehler and brother, Ralph (Linda) Dennis, as well as many nieces and nephews who were very special to him.
He is proceeded in death by his mother, Evondah Harvey and father, Clyde Dennis, step-father, Arthur Harvey, step-brothers Maxwell and Gordon Harvey, step-sisters Gladys Mahan and Leah Richmond; sister Shirley (Don) Ross, step-mother Emmer Dennis; Brothers-in-law William (Leona) Mausling, Stuart (Ruth) Mausling, Kenneth (Louise)Mausling, sisters-in-law Eleanor (Barney)Morehouse, Charlotte (Al) Mansfield.
We appreciate the wonderful care from the staff of Hospice at Robinson Memorial Hospital and the staff of Aurora Manor.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at Garrettsville United Methodist Church on Saturday February 7, 2015, at 1:00, with visitation from 11:30 till the time of service.
