Donald L. Moore, 72, of Garrettsville, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Robinson Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 18, 1937 in Shalersville.
He was a self-employed carpenter all of his life. Don served in the Ohio National Guard of Ravenna from 1960 to 1965. He was a member of the Garrettsville Chamber of Commerce and Garrettsville Eagles. Don attended the Garrettsville United Methodist Church.
He was an avid sports fan, and was a great supporter of James A. Garfield sports. He was one of the founding members of the James A Garfield Athletic Boosters. He was instrumental in organizing the James A. Garfield Hall of Fame and the Garfield Alumni Association. He enjoyed the Browns, Cavaliers, Indians, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their sports and school activities.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Roetta Moore; sons, Donny (Marta) and Steve (Jill) all of Wadsworth; daughters, Diana (Allen) Knight of Windham and Sheri (Kenny) Johnson of Garrettsville; 10 grandchildren, Jake, Tate, Haley, Stephanie, Matt, Austin, Brittany, Casey, Matthew and Megan; brothers, Les (Betty) Moore of Shalersville, Merlin “Moe” (Mary) of Greenwich, Ohio; sister, Carol Canfora of Norton; and his mother-in-law, Thelma Paul of Garrettsville.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Inez Moore of Freedom.
Calling hours are 4-8 PM on Monday, February 8, 2010 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Oh. 44231. Funeral services are at 11 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Kris Patt and Rev. Roger Norton officiating.
