DONALD H. SMITH

February 12, 1936 — May 11, 2016

Donald H. Smith, 80, of Windham, passed away on May 11, 2016. He was born on February 12, 1936 in Williamson, West Virginia. Don moved to Ohio in 1960.

Don was a United States Navy Veteran, serving from 1954 – 1958. He was a retired fabricator, after retirement he enjoyed volunteering at the American Legion. Don enjoyed life before his illness, he loved to go to the horse races, walking, cooking for others and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey L. Smith; brother, David H. Smith and Vernon (Elsie) Smith; mother, Essie Linkenhoker; father, Andrew J. Smith; step-father, George Linkenhoker; baby sister, Ruth Ann and baby brother Paul Blake.

Don is survived by Carolyn Smith of Windham; sons, Ron H. Smith of Windham and John A. Smith of Ravenna; daughter, Donna (Mark) Vintson of Kent; grandson, Charles (Swedell Hollo) Simmons of Ravenna; granddaughter, Shayla P. Purnell of Kent; great grandsons, Charles Avery and Carson Riley Simmons of Ravenna.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 2-5 PM at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio. Family will share heart felt memories during the visitation.
