Donald R. Taylor, 77, of Litchfield Township passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Medina General Hospital after a 25 year battle with MS with his family by his side. Don was born in Northfield, Ohio on November 10, 1936 to Alfred and Ruth (nee Maltby) Taylor.
He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1954 where he was a remarkable athlete in all sports. He currently holds a second place record in Medina County for four touchdown receptions in a single game, the 1953 Brunswick versus Seville game. He was also an avid fisherman and cabinet maker. He retired in 1989 from Medina City Schools where he worked as a custodian. He served his country from 1956–1958 in the U.S. Army overseas in Germany and France in the 79th Engineering Battalion and then in the Army Reserves until 1962 when he was honorably discharged.
He is survived by his wife Shirley (nee Reutter) of 55 years, children, Mike Taylor, Sharon (Rick) Baker, Judy Lanier and James (Lisa) Taylor; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; sister, Marge Study; brother, David (Marcia) Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred and Robert and his granddaughter Kelli Baker.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of route 303) Brunswick, OH 44212. Inurnment will be on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 1:30 PM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman, Ohio (PLEASE MEET AT CEMETERY).
