Douglas Ray “Doug” Angel, 79 of Garrettsville, passed on to eternal life August 24, 2012 at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna, OH.
He was born in Nelson Twp. on May 19, 1933, the third son of Lloyd K. and Lena M. (Engel) Angel.
He lived in Garrettsville the greatest part of his life, except for the 4 years he served in the US Air Force from 1952 thru 1956, during the Korean War. After the service, Doug worked as a Sales Associate with Hecky Pollock Ford Mercury and later became the proprietor of Menough’s Clothing in Garretttsville. Mr. Angel is a past officer of the Garrettsville Chamber of Commerce and a member of The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio Garrettsville #24.
Mr. Angel was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Lee, nephew Jerry Kurtzman, niece Patty Angel and sister-in-law Barbara Jean Angel.
Surviving are brothers Glenn K. Angel of Moore, SC and Roger (Connie) Angel of Garrettsville; sisters Beverly (Edward) Kurtzman and Barbara Ann Angel both of Garrettsville; 12 nieces and nephews; 27 great nieces and nephews and 11 great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-7 PM on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH. 44231 with a Masonic Service following at 7:15 PM.
