Edith Alexander, 75, of Garrettsville, OH passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2023. She was born in Columbus, OH, on November 28, 1947, to the late Thomas and Rose (nee Ondarcho) Darrah.
She was a proud graduate of Clinton High School in Clinton, NY, and belonged to the class of 1965.
Edie enjoyed selling real estate in the Garrettsville area for more than 30 years, and was very active in her community. She volunteered at The Renaissance Family Center in Windham, OH and was always the first to volunteer and help any local organization or person in need. Edie loved selling real estate and made many friends in the community through the years. If you mention her name to anyone from Garrettsville, most will say "Oh, yes, I know Edie!" and follow with a big smile and a story of how they know her. She loved caring for her houseplants, collecting antiques, and decorating her home. Edie was the heart and soul of her family and especially loved being a grandmother. She would light up when she spoke about her grandchildren.
Edie will be deeply missed by her loving husband, William "Bill" Alexander, with whom she was blessed to share 55 years of marriage; children, Jeanne (Dan Mack) Addington, of Dallas, GA, Meredith (Leo) Shaw, of Twinsburg, OH, and Betsey (Danny) Reed, of Garrettsville, OH; grandchildren, Robert (Bethany) Addington, Katherine (London Ramsey) Addington, Kevin Shaw, Tyler Shaw, and Kinsley Reed, as well as her many friends in the Garrettsville area.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Stephen Alexander, and brother, John Darrah.
Please join the family for a graveside service on Saturday, February 18th, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., in Park Cemetery, 8588 Center St. Garrettsville, OH 44231, where Edie will be laid to rest near her beloved son. Care for Edie was entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.
