Elma K. Davison-DeFelice, 92, of Garrettsville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at her Wheeler Road home with her family at her side. On May 11, 1919, Anna B. (Webb) and Elmer J. Kinney welcomed their baby daughter, Elma, into their family. Elma was married to Hugh Davison with whom she had three children, Donald L. Davison, Jerry Davison and Judith Davison Toth. She later married Joseph DeFelice. Elma spent most of her life in Garrettsville, Ohio, where she graduated from Garrettsville High School in 1936. She then attended Kent State University after graduation and received a two year diploma in 1938 for teaching. Elma later continued her education at Kent State where she received a BS in Education. She taught in schools in Windsor, Nelson, Garrettsville and finally Champion schools. Elma taught third grade at Champion until she retired in 1981. She also worked in the catering department at Hiram College. She was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting, traveling and spending time with her family. She attended the Lunch Bunch in Hiram on a regular basis, as well as having lunch with the teacher’s association and her fellow teachers from Champion at the Wayside Restaurant in Champion. She was a member of the Knitting Guild in Warren. Many of her knitting accomplishments were modeled in fashion shows by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cherished memories of Elma will be carried on by her son, Donald (Cherie) L. Davison and her daughters, Judy (Marty) Toth and Joann Platt; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, both husbands, Hugh Davison and Joseph DeFelice, her son, Jerry Davison, and her poodles "Mimi" and "Gidget". The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 1 PM on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St. Garrettsville, Ohio 44231 with funeral services will beginning at 1 PM with Rev. Charles E. Monroe, Jr. of the Warren Revival Center officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Garrettsville. www.carlsonfuneralhomes.com .
