Photo: Obituary: Elton E. Evans, Sr. 86, of Nelson Twp., passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Geauga Medical Center. Elton was born November 11, 1926 in Parkman, Ohio to Bert E. and Metta (Dixon) Evans. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was a rubber worker at Geauga Industries in Geauga County for 43 years. He was a member of Faith Evangelical Church and loved coon hunting. He also enjoyed basketball and fishing, and spending time with his beloved family and friends. Elton is survived by his devoted wife, Eleanor (Thrasher) Evans of Nelson Twp.whom he married November 11, 1950; sons, Elton (Rita) Evans, Jr. of Tennessee, Earl Evans of South Carolina, Rodger Evans of Garrettsville and Dale (Jeri) Evans of Florida; daughter, Vera (Dan) Miller of Ravenna; brother, Elwood Evans of Florida; and sister, Lucille Beres of Bedford Heights; grandchildren, Dan, Julie, Elton III, Jenny, Jonathan, Stephanie, Andrew and Eli; and great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Nathan, Morgan and Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wilbert and sister, Lillian. Calling hours are 6-8 PM on Thursday Nov. 15, 2012 and 11 AM to 12 PM on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH where funeral services will be held at 12 o’clock Noon on Friday, Nov. 16 , with Pastor Peter King officiating.
