Elva Mae Carpenter, 79 of Freedom, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Elva was born February 24, 1933 in Braxton County, WV to Wilson Woodrow Stout and Allie G. Wilson. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting. She especially loved watching her grandchildren play and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband James D. whom she married on November 2, 1953; her children, Eddie D. Carpenter of Illinois, Donnie J. (Karen) Carpenter of Freedom, Teresa L. (Samuel) McGarvey of Garrettsville, Malinda (Philip) Horne of Aurora and Eric S. Carpenter of Mantua. Elva also is survived by her brothers, Jay Wilson of Alliance and Eddie B. Stout of Georgia, half-brother, Tom (Rose) Stout of Alliance, half-sister, Kathy (James) Weatherspoon of Alliance, half-brothers, Randall (Janice) Stout and Lenny (Sherry) Stout all of Florida, 11 grandchildren 16 great-grandchildren, a blessing on the way and four step- grandchildren. Her parents and son, James P. Carpenter are deceased. Calling hours are 11 AM to 1 PM on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231 where funeral services will follow at 1 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Drakesburg Cemetery, Freedom Twp.
