FRANCIS B. RYAN

Francis B. Ryan, age 96, of Brunswick, Ohio, passed away on August 17, 2014. He was the son of the late William J. and Mary (nee McCarthy) Ryan. He was born on September 29, 1917 in Lowell, Massachusetts and was married to his loving wife, Joan (nee Biro) for nearly 40 years.

Frank was a United States Army veteran of World War II and was involved with many organizations. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Brunswick American Legion Post 234, and Brunswick VFW Post 9520. Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #14769. He was a Knight of the 4th Degree of Father Joseph J. McGraw Assembly # 2397, a Past Grand Knight and Past Faithful Navigator. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and St. Colette Catholic Church. He was also a Past President for Holy Name in Syracuse, New York. He belonged to the Ancient Order of the Hibernians Division #1 Medina County and the West Side Irish American Club. Frank graduated from St. Francis Xavier University, Antignish, Nova Scotia, Canada.

He began his career as a Die Designer and he concluded his successful career as Vice Chairman of the Board with Slyman Industries of Cleveland, Ohio. Frank presented a technical paper to the Astme Seminar in 1968 entitled Zinc Based Decorative Die Casting.

He will be dearly missed by his children, Deborah Ryan, Joan Bogan, Michael (Michelle) Ryan, Jacqueline Ryan; grandchildren, Elizabeth Schroeder, Sean (Kristy) Schroeder, Erin Britton; great grandchildren, Cory McKee, Tyler McKee, Talise Schroeder and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife; son, Donald; brothers, Edmond, John and Daniel; sisters, Rita, Nora Murphy, Alice Lowney, Imelda Toohey, and Abigale Ryan.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Wednesday, August, 20, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of route 303) Brunswick, OH 44212. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Colette Catholic Church, Brunswick, Ohio. Father Krizner will be officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio.
