Frank Stanley Charek, age 94 of Medina, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016.
He was born in Maple Heights, Ohio on December 28, 1921 to Frank J. and Christine
(nee Vopat) Charek.
Frank served in the United States Army during WWII and fought in The Battle of the Bulge under General Patton. He proudly served as a Lieutenant with the Cleveland Fire Dept. at 79th and Kinsman, Station #26, and W.117th, Station #33, for a total of 29 years. He also served on the Cleveland Rescue Squad. Frank married Laura (nee Pfeiffer) and together raised their 6 children. In his younger years he enjoyed roller skating, square dancing, golf, bowling and working on cars.
Frank will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 70 years Laura, children; Kenneth (Karen), Dennis (Monica), Leonard (Karen), Mary Ann (Jim) Harrison, Glenn (Julia), and Frank (Sue) also his 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Florence and brother-in-law Frank Pokorny.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM also Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road (corner of River Styx & Rt. 18), Medina, Ohio 44256. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Church 606 E. Washington St. Medina, Ohio 44256. Burial to follow in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery Rittman, Seville, Ohio 44273.
