Frank Edward Vacha, age 90, of Medina, and previously of Cleveland, passed away on November 22, 2019. He was born on November 13, 1929, in Cleveland, to the late Frank and Rose (nee Kovar) Vacha.
Frank retired from the U.S. Post Office in downtown Cleveland where he worked as a baggage handler.
Frank enjoyed Bingo and, to the frustration of family who played with him on church bingo nights, he usually came home with the winnings. Over the years, Frank enjoyed boat cruises either with his brother Ray and wife Helen, his nephew Terry and wife Elaine, and many with his niece Jackie. His cruises included Alaska, Hawaii, along our east and west coast, and many Caribbean islands. He also played the Ohio lottery regularly. He played slot machines at casinos, always quitting after his first jackpot no matter how small. He was a loyal fan to all the Cleveland sports teams, often watching game reruns. And he looked forward to meal time pretty much shortly after the last meal was finished.
Frank passed away one week after celebrating his 90th birthday with friends and family. He will be dearly missed by his loving nieces and nephews, Raymond (Linda) Vacha, Terrance (Elaine) Vacha, Jacquelyn Anderson, and Robin (Ethel) Vacha plus many grandnieces and grandnephews. He will be missed dearly by his good friend and companion Sandara Weekly.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Vacha; brothers, Raymond and Harold Vacha; and nephews, Todd and Keith Vacha.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, OH 44256. Visitation will also be available on Tuesday from 9:00 am - 10:00 am. Following that a 10:00 am funeral service will be held at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Cleveland, OH.
