GALEN E. MURRAY

Galen E. Murray, age 66, of Medina, passed away December 2, 2018. He was born on December 15, 1951 in Wadsworth, OH to Kenneth and Ruth (nee Zigler) Murray.

Galen was the best of the best husband, dad and grandpa. He enjoyed riding his Harley, woodworking, feeding the wildlife, working in his yard, and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons Colin and Ian. He was also a big train enthusiast. Galen was a 1970 graduate of Cloverleaf High School, then served in the US Army from 1971 to 1973. Galen was a dedicated employee of GTE/ Verizon, retiring from the company in 2005. He was a member of VFW Post #5137 and a lifetime member of their auxiliary.

Galen will be dearly missed by his loving wife, and best friend of 41 years, Katherine (nee Yeager); son, Josh; daughter, Stefanie (Dennis) Elkin; parents, Kenneth and Ruth; brothers, Richard (Peggy), Scott (Wendy), Brian (Liz), and Dennis Murray; sister, Sharon (Dave) Crist; grandsons, Colin and Ian Elkin; his dog Oreo, and many friends, cousins, uncles and aunts.

He was preceded in death by his older sister Linda Armstrong; in-laws, Robert and Gloria (nee Chase) Yeager; maternal grandparents, Russell and Estella (nee Freudiger) Zigler; paternal grandparents, Tully and Neva (nee Rennecker) Murray.

Friends may join the family for Galen’s visitation on Monday, December 10, 2018, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, OH 44256. A service for Galen will be held at 1:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow service at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery in Rittman, OH at 2:30 PM.
