George Franklin Benner, 60 of Medina, passed away on November 29, 2024, after fighting a courageous battle. He was born on October 30, 1964, in Dayton, Ohio to George Leslie and Virgina Lee (Sauerbrun) Benner. George graduated from Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio. He then went on to receive his degree from DeVry University in Columbus, Ohio. George served in the United States Army for over 18 years and served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He worked at Kiehl Building Services and Cavanaugh Building Corporation. George loved to bowl and was in many bowling leagues. He was a baseball coach and served many youth organizations. George loved his Labrador Retrievers, Buck, Thunder, and Coco.

George is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Robert R Brown Jr.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 35 years, Brenda, and son, Zack (Hannah Gerspacher) Benner, sisters, Sherri (Bill) Nelson, and Linda (Billy) Martin, mother-in-law, Beverly Brown, brothers and sisters-in-law, Brent (Jodee) Brown, Beth (Ken) Brown, Bridgitte (Josh) Holwegner, Robert (Amanda) Brown and multiple nieces & nephew, friends and colleagues.

A graveside service for the immediate family will be held December 20th, 2024, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where George will receive full military honors. 

The family would like to thank Cleveland Clinic Doctors, Nurses, Aides, Palliative Care (Katie & Melissa) and Dr. Raj. Special thanks to Dr. Shuster & Dr. Abramovish and their nurses and staff in Medina.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Care of George was entrusted to Carlson Funeral Home - Medina.
