George W. Jay, Sr., 85 of Brunswick passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 1, 1925 in Clarksville, Pennsylvania and was a United States Army Veteran serving in WWII.
He retired from Union Carbide as a Shipping Supervisor and then worked at Cherokee Hills as a Starter. He was a member of the Brunswick VFW Post #9520, an avid golfer who loved his family and was proud of being a Veteran.
He is survived by his children George (Patricia) Jay Jr., Rose (Donald) Straw, and Marjorie Nagy; grandchildren Lorrie (Scott) Castle, Christine Hess, Jennifer (John) Reale, Melinda Jay, Martin (Darcie) Jay, April (David) Schell, and Emily Straw; and great-grandchildren Cassandra, Shaina, Austin, Kaitlin, Aydan, Johnny, and Patrick.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty M. (nee Huba) Jay; mother Mary (nee Helmick) Jay; son-in-law Paul Nagy; and his brothers and sisters.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Medina County for their great care.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Sunday, February 6, 2011 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Ambrose Parish. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH ONE HOUR PRIOR. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memory Gardens.
