George Raymond Ploucha passed away May 7, 2018, surrounded by his beloved sons. He joined his wife Maureen (nee Lavelle) in Heaven on that day; she arrived first on September 17, 2017. George was devoted to his wife for 55 years.
George was born on August 4, 1933 to George and Virginia (nee Kelly). He will be greatly missed by his four heartbroken sons; Michael of Jackson Township, Patrick (Erin) of Westfield Center, James of Seville, and Tony (Beth) of North Canton. He was cherished by his beloved grandchildren Haley, Connor, Anthony, and Sophia; as well as his brothers, Thomas (Sue) and James. George had a tremendous impact on his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
George grew up in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood. He was a 1951 graduate of Saint Ignatius High School and graduate of John Carroll University, where he received a basketball scholarship. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. George retired from Westfield Insurance Company after 33 years of dedicated service. Prior to starting his career at Westfield, he worked for the FBI.
George took great pride in his Catholic faith and was a founding member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church.
George enjoyed traveling and watching his children and grandchildren’s many academic and athletic activities. To George, family always came first.
The world lost, but Heaven has gained, a wonderful man, husband, father, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend. He is now resting peacefully with his beloved wife, and God.
George will forever be missed and loved by all who knew him.
