George M. Yurtz, age 76, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024. He was born on July 20, 1947, to the late Rose (nee DeFrank) and George Yurtz.

In addition to his parents, George is reunited with his special grandson, Preston Mitchell.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 53 years, Debbie Yurtz; children, Derek Yurtz, Megan Loveday, and Brandon Yurtz; and grandchildren, Bradleigh, Dylan, Marissa, Izzy and Bubba.

George, He wasn't one for fancy words or big gestures. He was known for his straightforward and unpretentious nature. He found joy in the little things, embodying a sense of authenticity. Despite his simple ways, George loved trying his luck by gambling, though Lady Luck seldom favored him.

A devoted fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Browns, George’s love for the teams was unwavering. He spent countless hours cheering them on, celebrating their victories, and commiserating over their defeats.

One of George's greatest joys was spending time at his cherished house in Chippewa Lake, a family treasure passed down from his father. George found peace and comfort by the lake, where he loved to relax and reflect. It was here, at this special place he adored, that he passed away, surrounded by the tranquility he cherished. His children now continue to enjoy the house, keeping his legacy and love for the lake alive.

George dedicated a significant part of his life to public service as a postal worker in Medina. He retired after many years of diligent and loyal service.

George's sense of duty extended beyond his professional life. He was a member of the Brunswick and Medina VFW Post, where there was always a good time and shared bonds with fellow veterans. His contributions to the community and his dedication to honoring the service of others were a testament to his character and his deep respect for those who served.

George will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. A private ceremony will be held, during which he will receive well- deserved military honors.
