Geraldine F. (Herbut) Mejak-Heyd, 72 of Brunswick passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights. She was born January 4, 1938 in Cleveland to Walter and Helen (nee Cygan) Herbut and worked in the meat department for Fisher Fazio Foods/Giant Eagle retiring after 30 years of service.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Parish volunteering for funeral lunches; was a Girl scout Mother; loved and enjoyed her family and friends, especially her grandchildren; and enjoyed floral and vegetable gardening, the outdoors, and shopping.
Mrs. Heyd was the beloved wife of the late Edwin Heyd; dear mother of Cheri (Tom) Cika, Lori (Dave) Anderson, Ron (Sue) Mejak, and Tami Dreher; stepmother of John (Miriam) Heyd and Tony Heyd; loving grandmother of Brandy (Phil) Carl, Tom, Adam, Scott, Mike, Ryan, Ashley, Andrew, Brittany, Anthony, Tiffany, Nicholas, Hanna, and the late Nicole; great-grandmother of Cayla; sister of Carole (Dave) Kopowski, Joe (Kathy) Herbert, and the late Walter Herbut.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, and granddaughter.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, March 19, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Ambrose Parish. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland.
