Gilbert E. Smeltzer, age 89, of Brunswick, passed away on November 15, 2019. He was born on September 17, 1930, in Marion, OH to the late Roscoe and Nellie (nee Clayton) Smeltzer.
Gilbert was a Korean War veteran, a retired gage repair man at Ford, and one of the smartest people we knew. He could tear a computer apart and rebuild it; fix every electronic and solve puzzles faster than anyone. He was a Yahtzee champ and a beautiful clock maker. He loved fishing and traveling too!
He will be dearly missed by his children, Kim (Craig) Jenkins, Jeffrey, Carl (Sandra) Reese Jr., Rodney (Christine) Reese; grandchildren, Tanya (John), Craig Jr. (Christy), Carl III (Nichole), Trisha (Tom), Kyle (Alyssa), Nicholas (Alexis); and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alda Mae (Pearl); brother, Roscoe (Josie); and sister, Mary (Paul) Thomas.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, November 18, 2019, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick, OH 44212. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home for Gilbert on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Brunswick, OH.
