Gimma “Nanny” Delores Adkins, 85 years, of St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Broadview Heights, Ohio, passed away on June 21, 2020. She was born on September 7, 1934 to Lendon and Perdeeda (Blankenship) Mullins in Swandale, West Virginia. Gimma cherished spending time and caring for her beloved family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, trips to the casino, gardening and cooking. Gimma was a graduate of Business College and went onto a secretarial career, followed by retail work, and finally a stay-at-home mother and grandmother creating a trail of beautiful, cherished memories along the journey. She spent the last years of her life in Florida with her granddaughter and caregiver (Jenny), and daughter (Zona), and passed away at home surrounded by loved ones.
Gimma is survived by two of three children, Zona (Larry) Hope, and Beverly (Earl) Starr; four grandchildren, Jenny Lynn (Brian) Sabo, Amy (Blake) Wheeler, Eddie Starr, Ashley (partner Brent) Hall; ten great-grandchildren, Jazmine, Caleb, Madison, Jayden, Bryce, Audrea, Gabriella, twins Preston and Tucker, and Jaxson; siblings, Janice (John) Hume, Annabelle Justice, and Wimp Mullins; and sister-in-law, Ruth Faye Mullins. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; husband of 59 years, Henry Milton Adkins; loving son, Henry Milton Adkins Jr.; and dear brothers Garrel, Junior and Volly.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Sunday, June 28th, 2020 from 2-5 PM at Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, Brunswick, OH 44212. Gimma’s funeral service will immediately follow visitation on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at 5 PM. Please meet at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery Office, 4700 Broadview Rd., Cleveland, OH 44109 on Monday, June 29, 2020 at 9:45 am. We will then have her graveside service at 10 AM where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Henry.
