Helen Elizabeth "Queen Bee'" Manzo, the most amazing woman in the world, passed away on May 17, 2021 at the age of 82.
Helen was always known for making everyone laugh and had a zest for life that was unparalleled. She was a WWII survivor, overcame severe adversity, and loved this country deeply so the 4th of July was her favorite time of the year....we called her "lady liberty". Helen had a very competitive nature, was an avid bowler and believed in living life to its fullest. She will be deeply missed by her family and her friends.
Helen's husband and the love of her life for 63 years, Rossario (Cy) Manzo, recently passed on Jan, 2, 2021 and she now joins him in eternal life.
Daughter of Julius & Veronica Smalcer (deceased). Beloved mother of Mike Manzo (wife, Christine), Rick Manzo (deceased), Ross Manzo, Eric Manzo (fiancé, Marianne), and Collette Scharschmidt (husband, Steve). Loving Grandmother of Meghan Manzo Todd, Allison Manzo, Rick Manzo Jr., Brandon and Paige Scharschmidt, and Rachel, Morgan and Taylor Manzo. Proud Great Grandmother of Rocco & Giovanna Todd, Maci & Jordan Milan, and Kavin Manzo. Sister to Joe Smalcer and deceased siblings: John, Olga, Julius, Julianne, Veronica, Rudolph & Albert. Sister In Law, Aunt & Great Aunt to many.
Helen touched the lives of so many people; we ask that you come to pay your respects and share your favorite stories about her on Thursday, May 20th between 3:00 pm & 7:30 pm at Carlson Funeral Homes, 1642 Pearl Rd (one mile south of Rt. #303 and Pearl Road) in Brunswick. Prayer services will be held at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Masks are required and social distancing rules will apply.
