Helen Pompili (Cavano), age 100, born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 10, 1924. Died May 25, 2024, peacefully in the presence of angels. Beloved wife of Wilson Pompili (deceased), they were married for 75 years. Cherished mother to Patricia Jackman (Pompili), William and daughter-in-law Marianne (Pastva), Dr. Lawrence and daughter-in-law Christine (Gillock) and Melanie Wall (Pompili) and son-in-law Robert. Loving grandmother to 8, great-grandmother to 12 and great-great grandmother of 2. Preceded in death by her sister Lenora Pompili of Cleveland, Ohio and survived by her sister Mary Wadowick, of Troy, Alabama. A loving aunt and friend to many.

Helen was a graduate of John Adams High School. Following WWII, Helen and her husband opened Pompili Music Studios. Together they operated a successful business for over 30 years.

Helen was a perfect example of openness to God’s word and grace, always sharing hope and generous love. Helen was active in St. Timothy’s Sodality of Our Lady.  She shared her love for children, volunteering for the Christ Child Society of Cleveland where she crocheted blankets for the Layette Program. Her greatest talent was cooking. An innate chef, her recipes for cookies and all things Italian will be treasured for generations. Helen was an avid Canasta card player. Playing Canasta with her was competitive, yet always full of fun, laughter, and wonderful memories.

Helen was blessed to have had a Happy 100th Birthday Gala where 5 generations of family and many friends were present.

Helen will always be remembered for her beauty, devotion to her family and her unwavering belief in always choosing life which was perfectly reflected in one of her last pearls of wisdom that “the first 100 years are the hardest!”
