Herman Sylvester (Bud) Beckman, age 93, of Brunswick, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023 peacefully in his sleep.
Born in Eglon, WV, to the late Herman and Bessie (née Henline) Beckman on August 2, 1930. He moved to Ohio in 1955, where he worked at General Motors UAW Local 1005 for 33 years before retiring. Bud proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. A longtime member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Bud took great pride in caring for his yard and home. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, the Cleveland Indians on TV and radio, and old-time country music on “Willie’s Place” on Sirius satellite radio. Bud was well-liked in his neighborhood and will be deeply missed by many.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Joyce (Edward) Markovitz, of Brunswick; granddaughter, Rebecca Arbogast, also of Brunswick; sister Elaine (Dan) Stemple, of Prairie Grove, AR, and sister-in-law, Leona Beckman, of Baltimore, MD.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Donna, and brothers, Harold and Charles (Sally) Beckman.
Please join the family for visitation on Monday, November 6, 2023, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, at Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Rd. (1/2 mile south of Route 303), Brunswick. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 12:45 pm in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville.
