Hildegarde E. Bender (nee Groseclose), age 81, of Medina, passed away on November 14, 2018. She was born on March 28, 1937 in New York City, NY to the late Elgin and Louise (nee Williams) Groseclose.
Mom and Dad met in the library at Allegheny her freshman year and were married the summer of '55. It must have been love from first sight to last, 56 years later. Mom loved flying and bicycling and is probably already trying again to get Dad to ride sag. Good luck with that! She also loved to travel and would take any opportunity to do so.
Remaining are their sons, William (Natalya) and Clifford (Ryoko); daughters Jennifer, and Amy (Michael) Vincent; along with 10 grandchildren and 5 great (and they are great!)-grandchildren.
Mom taught English at Highland High School and demanded and expected no less than the best effort of her students, her children, and herself. She was a champion for the underdog and did not believe in nor would accept "I can't."
It was an unexpectedly short stay, but we thank the staff of Brookdale Medina South for their attentive care. Mom looked forward to getting stronger with therapy but had already been looking for the checkout counter.
She was impetuous but loving, caring, and always wanting the best for her four "babies." We miss you already, Mom. Love, Us.
