Howard “Sonny” Edward Andrews, 88, a resident of Windham Township, peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Born on March 12, 1935, in Garrettsville, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late Raymond and Laura (Cain) Andrews.
His journey began in Garrettsville, where he found not only his roots, but also the love of his life, Rena. Together, they shared the blessings of matrimony for over 67 years. Howard was a dedicated owner-operator truck driver. In earlier years he was also a proud member of the Stompers Road Club, a local race car enthusiast group in Garrettsville. In his leisure time, Howard found joy in the adrenaline rush of car racing, the tranquility of camping, and the serenity of fishing.
Howard leaves behind his son, Michael Andrews, along with three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and a wide circle of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Laura (Cain) Andrews; loving wife, Rena; son and daughter-in-law, John and Patty Andrews, as well as his sister, Grace Ann Long.
In the hearts of those who knew him, Howard's memory will forever endure, a testament to a life lived with love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Please join the family for a visitation Tuesday, February 20, 2024, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Howard will then be taken to Drakesburg Cemetery, in Freedom Township, where he will be lovingly laid to rest beside his Rena.
