Irene Furda, 87, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Blossom Hill Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was a Garrettsville resident most of her life, but recently resided at Blossom Hill. She was born April 19, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio and was a lifelong member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Parkman.
She was a charter member of the Altar & Rosary Society, as well as a dedicated church volunteer. She enjoyed her flower gardens, growing vegetables for canning, and baking. Irene loved her violin, listening to music, dancing, and her Polka’s.
Irene is survived by her children, Carol (Gary) Cox and Michael (Penny) Furda and a sister, Mary Shale all of Garrettsville. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Gary S. Cox of Middlefield, Christine (Denver) Henderson of Kentucky, Michael S. Jr. (Christina) Furda, Cheryl (Robert) Holsapfel and Lori (Steven) Kumher all of Garrettsville and great-grandchildren Stephen, Aaron, Ellie, Brian, Maddie, Austin, Christopher, Michael S. III, Christopher, Johnathan, Jillian and Jacqueline.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Julia (Stankovich) Ceszcicky, and her beloved husband, Michael J. Furda to whom she was married almost 60 years. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Monday, December 2, 2013 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Parkman, with Rev. John T. Burkley officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to Mass. Burial will follow at Overlook Cemetery, Parkman.
