Irene Alice Slavik, 88, of Garrettsville, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2010. She was born December 9, 1921 in Lakewood, Ohio to the late Paul and Vida Wolschleger.
Irene retired as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell. She had a passion for life and learning everything she could. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, traveling, and loved animals and nature. She cherished spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed helping people and doing things for others. On April 28, 2010 she was awarded a President Garfield Humanitarian Award from the Garfield Masonic Lodge. She was an active member of St. Ambrose Church in Garrettsville.
Irene is survived by her sons, James of Ravenna and Joseph of Oakwood; daughter, Maryann (Rick) Nash of Nelson and grandchildren, Danielle, Amanda, Ryan and Adam Nash and Jack Slavik and Joseph Slavik Jr.
She was preceded in death by her long time partner, Ralph S. Hula from Loveland, Colorado. Her lasting gift to us all was her example of loving and caring for us all.
