James R. Bigam, ASIS, FBINA-140th, FABC, CAHSO; currently a Sargent with the Cleveland Clinic Police Department, age 70, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2016 after a strong and courageous battle with cancer.
Jim is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (nee Hughes) of 44 years. Jim is the loving son of Gerald E. & Betty Marie (nee Thomason) Bigam (dec) Brother of Jerry Bigam (dec) Twin brother of Judith Ann Wilburn (dec) Cousin, co-worker and friend to many. Extra special uncle to Heather (Dave) Mandato, Shannon (Eric), Breanna, Paige, Trevor and Jack Pacek, and many other nieces and nephews.
Jim prided himself on his life-long work of law enforcement; serving & protecting. Upon graduation from Brunswick High School, Jim proudly served in the United States Army. He began his career with the Medina Sheriff’s office. He served with the Medina City Police Department where he earned his FBINA; in 2008 Jim earned recognition as a Fellow of The Advisory Board. He helped to keep the streets safe from drugs while he served on the Medina County Drug Task Force. Jim joined the Cleveland Clinic where he was a Certified Advance Hospital Security Officer. Jim was known for his many accomplishments.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road (corner of River Styx & Rt. 18), Medina, Ohio 44256. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 10:00 AM also at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
