James Riker Harris, age 82, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018, on his way home to Ohio from South Carolina. He was moving back for good to live in peace and happiness.
James was employed as a painter for the Painter’s & Decorating Union #707. He was a loving, providing father for his children with a keen ability to model his parenting for those who were not his own.
He was an avid Cav’s and Brown’s fan and a passionate Brunswick Blue Devils sports fan.
James was the most caring, kindest, giving and unselfish person in this world, he was a great man with many friends. He was a mentor and a breath of fresh air to all the younger generations. He loved being in the middle of the action and enjoyed the moment, never wanting to age. He was always positive and made the best of good and bad situations. We who knew him will always cherish and hang onto the beloved stories and his charming personality. Rest in Peace “father-to-all” and God Bless.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Audrey (nee Goldstein), beloved sons; David (Christina) Harris, Doyle “DJ” Harris, Jimmy Harris, daughters, Sharon Harris, Melinda (Jonathan) Warner and Tiffany Lopez; dear grandchildren; Taylor Minton, Ciara Harris and Brianna Harris and great grandchildren; Carlos, Elijah, and Daisy Lopez, brother-in-laws; Frank (Nancy), Alan, Stephan (Cheryl) Goldstein and sister, Diane Noretsky. He was a surrogate father to Jason Robertson and Brian Kolin.
James was preceded in death by his brother-in-law; Richard Goldstein.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, Brunswick. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at noon. Minister Frank Goldstein will officiate. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Brunswick.
